What you do
You are on shift in a Regional Operations Centre. The prototype covers the M62 between junctions 18 and 20. Traffic never stops, so every decision has a cost.
Watch the network
Follow live traffic on a zoomable 2D map, from the whole section down to individual lanes.
Set the signs
Change smart-motorway signs and speed limits on gantries as conditions change.
Send the crews
Dispatch traffic officers, recovery, police, ambulance and fire to incidents.
Handle the weather
Fog, rain, heat and roadworks all change how the road behaves.
Balance the budget
You are scored on safety, journey times and a weekly budget, so you cannot send everything everywhere.
Hear from drivers
Roadwatch is a drivers' social feed. It tells you what people think of your decisions.
